AI: Friendly, Hot, and Easily Accessible
Innovations in chat models, hardware design, and the top startups in the field.
In this week's edition, we cover the emergence of a new AI chat model as competition for ChatGPT, a list of the top 75 promising early-stage AI companies, and the integration of AI in hardware design, which promises to lower the barriers to entry for hardware design.
Hugging Face, the AI startup, just keeps going. They have released an alternative to ChatGPT called HuggingChat. It's not very good yet, but with these AI models, it takes a little time for them to learn and get smarter. What it does do is open up more competition in the AI space, which in my opinion, is a good thing.
Check out the article about it on TechCrunch.
NFX, a venture firm exclusively focused on pre-seed and seed-stage startups, has just released a list of the top 75 early-stage AI companies. One of these could be the next Google, Amazon, or Facebook, or maybe just bought by one of those companies.
Read the list on NFX.
Flux, a browser-based electronics design tool, has just integrated AI into their design software. Imagine wanting to create a medical device that measures heart rate and temperature. With AI, it can suggest what hardware components you need to make it work. This lowers the barrier to entry for hardware design.
