Google left behind as ChatGPT app released
Plus: Apple Ban, Dark Wed ChatGPT, and smol-ai/developer
In this week's edition of The Breakdown, we have the ChatGPT iOS app, Apple banning ChatGPT, Dark Web ChatGPT, and a couple of awesome Open Source Tools.
The app will initially be available only to users in the United States but will expand to other countries in the future. Its features include saving chat history and a speech recognition system, eliminating the need to type every question.
Google may be sweating a bit, since ChatGPT is a superior ad-free alternative. I guess the AI race is in full swing.
In an internal memo, Apple expressed concerns about the potential collection of confidential data by AI platforms. Additionally, Apple has been secretly testing a new technology called "Bobcat" to enhance Siri with generative natural language capabilities.
So, there are two things to remember: first, AI platforms collect all the data you input into them, and second, Apple has acknowledged that Siri is subpar.
DarkBERT is an AI model developed by South Korean researchers that has been trained on data from the dark web. It is reported that DarkBERT can assist security researchers and law enforcement agencies in delving deeper into the hidden parts of the web. I sincerely hope that they don't let that database fall into the wrong hands.
