Japan all-in on AI
Plus: JPMorgan IndexGPT, NVIDIA 2D to 3D, Stable Diffusion Cheat Sheet
In this week's edition of The Breakdown, we have Japan all in on AI, IndexGPT, and Neuralangelo 2D to 3D AI.
The bold move by the Japanese government to not enforce copyrights on data used to train AI allows AI to utilize any data for non-profit or commercial purposes, even if it is copyrighted. This initiative is part of Japan's strategy to become a global leader in AI and stimulate its economy. Considering that many prominent players have already trained their models on copyrighted data, it's reasonable to assume that the U.S. will adopt a similar approach.
JPMorgan Chase is creating IndexGPT: which uses AI to select investments tailored to customer needs. It sounds like robo-managed funds are going to get a major upgrade. This is potentially, the first large financial institution to develop a direct-to-consumer AI investment product.
Meet Neuralangelo from NVIDIA, an AI model that converts 2D video into 3D structures, allowing artists to create lifelike virtual buildings and objects. Now you can tour a museum from your couch. This model surpasses previous methods, and enables developers to create projects using smartphone videos.
